Bellum I

akunderhile This is too grand a work to pick a favorite track. If Wagner had written black metal, it would've sounded like this.

zionengine Just like "Griseus", this album flows through several metal styles with Wagnerian force. "Empyreal Nightsky" is a surprisingly emotional closer, and I was moved to look up the word "empyreal". Dark, heavy, intense music CAN make us smarter. Bring on Bellum II. Favorite track: Empyreal Nightsky.
Igor

Igor It took me a while to actually write a comment and pick a favorite track because I couldn't make up my mind...
Every track will take you on a journey... And what a journey it'll be!
So in lack of a better word I'll simply write that this album is another masterpiece from Mr. Rosenqvist. Favorite track: Eternal Unrest.

“Through night and wind Sough withered leaves The old willows so grey” From the glare of the desolate To the solace of ancient stone Down by midwinter morass To the caress of solitary oak Escaping to another realm Moss and lichen drape the fallen boughs Through rain of brumal smoke Warm light beckons the path beyond Old dreams are reignited The doors to an old life creep open A long dark spell only now beginning to lift Together, we walk on, alone The lucent eye, torn through turbid sky Peers through the sea of cloud, and smoky lights An amber mist, limns the night Over time's faded tapestry Toward land's end Through the thicket of lambent sun I hear the waves ever restless As another day fades A gift of beauty, carried with the wind Clouds roaming seaward Are eternally lost, in deep cerulean silence Far from home A slow death of her reverie, The shackles of a pallid warmth Still smoldering, inhumed inside As I sleep, under the idle haze Ashen dreams in tender gloom
3.
Relentless waves crash against Drown the voice, unbroken within An empty light Through bygone days Still living in a fog By the feathered firs of vanishing years I longed to return but there was no way back All frost and leaves, now enshroud the track Triumph and blight To ride the waves of ambition and despair Eyes awaken to sidereal dusk A gloom-ridden sylph, hung high through breathless night You have been here before And here you shall ever fall The rose paled mist Wading through the waters A slow death through time On this edge of darkness A stillness fell Frozen in a gloom of lurid beauty The absence of you Sallow moon by my side This constant neurosis Ever to silence the incessant mind A wraithlike vision of home You are already forgotten All that was known fades Nowhere left to escape A cursed gift Drawing the rains, comfort of an illation in delirium Reasoning in despair A lost past gathering dust Our own hell, we create None can help through this fog With your skull in your hand Awaiting eternal rest

Whispering thoughts from deep dark wells... Sleepwalking through the storm Vacant eyed, dwelling inside A mind in atrophy Longing for the quiet Behind glass, locked within A romance of the malady Late shadows bleed across the floor And jonquil paints upon her walls Till an eerie nostalgic, dwindling of the day As night drapes her room intrinsic grey Her embrace, the scent of the past Ingrained to maudlin dreams you cannot wake For the sun of yesterday has not left But now shines behind me, on a sea of unrest A frozen home beneath the waves Never to be seen, under the sun again (What you cannot take with you Through the passage of time) Hollow memories of what once inspired the heart After a long sleep you wake up old And there's no one left to hear you A cold empty room, where she once breathed life Now a silent passing, until we’re nothing
6.
A lost voice fading into the void
7.
Virulent thoughts, falling dreamscapes The next wave of shadows are coming Enter oblivion Before the ancient gates And beneath the cold earth Falling through chaos Toward a violent end Beauty, and brutality entwined Cries tear through empty night Amongst the dead and forgotten Winds moan through haunted sleep The dream of unwaking No one cares for your kind Now you’re just one less burden What poison sings in the depths of my breast A faint heart, inspiring hatred The annihilation of being Disgust and inner turmoil, ever growing Falling into the familiar cloud Lost in a spiral of smoke and confusion Dragged back into the murk The fog of despair, in catatonic blight Tired of fruitless hope There’s no peace here
8.
What has this darkness brought you? Down where the black willows, are windswept Lost moments in time, left to a quiet death A soul so poorly, her love hopeless to remedy Night sways into restless dreams Imprisoned in her world of gentle pain She softly sings through my empty cage Returning footsteps, just a deception of the rain...
